Recognition
Move Dance Feel is a company led by women, for women. We are dedicated to promoting the health benefits of dance for women living with and beyond cancer, and our mission is to address inequality in cancer care by making dance available to all women - worldwide. Awareness of our mission is expanding outside of our community - exampled below.
Royal Encounters
In April 2025 Move Dance Feel was invited to Buckingham Palace as part of a reception hosted by the King and Queen - celebrating community based cancer support.
Nine women attended to represent Move Dance Feel - artists, participants, advisors and collaborators as well as our Founder-Director, Emily Jenkins, who met King Charles.
The King greeted Emily with warmth, humour, and genuine curiosity. His engagement wasn’t ceremonial, but appeared heartfelt. It was clear that he understood, perhaps more than most in light of his own experience of cancer, what these community efforts mean on a human level.
Whilst the grandeur of the setting was humbling, it was the spirit of compassion and resilience that left the deepest impression. To share the role of dance in this context, to witness the power of collective care, and to stand in such historic surroundings alongside so many others making a difference is a memory we will carry forward with gratitude and renewed purpose.
We also featured in a BBC News article about the event.
Media Coverage
BBC ONE SHOW
In 2024 we were invited to meet, and interview with, Amy Dowden (from Strictly Come Dancing) and be featured on BBC’s The One Show. Due to her own experience of cancer and passion for dancing, Amy expressed great interest in, and support for, the work of Move Dance Feel.
THE BIG ISSUE
In 2025 we were invited to contribute and opinion piece to the Big Issue - how dance is helping women to heal after being diagnosed with cancer.
Awards
In 2025 our Founder, Emily Jenkins, and Move Dance Feel was chosen by OneDanceUK as winner of the Health and Wellbeing in Dance Award.
In 2021 Emily was nominated by the women of Move Dance Feel for a National Lottery Art, Culture and Film Award. Remarkably she was selected as winner, out of 1500 nominations! And below you can listen to a short interview between Greg McKenzie from BBC London Radio, Emily and Arlene Phillips discussing the award.
Letters of support
In 2022 we were selected by 10 Downing Street as a ‘Point of Light’ - an initiative that puts a spotlight on individuals making positive change in their communities.
“I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Emily for her outstanding work...She thoroughly deserves this award and recognition as a Point of Light for the support she has provided to people during their time of need.”
In the same year we received a letter from the Mayor of London following our involvement in their London Community Story project. The project resulted in an online exhibition (click the image below to browse) which summarises how Move Dance Feel supported women during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The work that you are doing to advocate for the importance of dance and movement to the mental health and wellbeing of Londoners is inspiring.”
